Thomas Adès Opera Commission announced!

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I haven’t written for a while, things have been busy. I’d like to give a big high-five to Ryan for keeping the dream alive while I am hunkered down.

But this is exciting: Thomas Adès‘s new opera is going to be premiered in Salzburg sometime between 2013 and 2016! It is based on the film The Exterminating Angel which is totally awesome and continues his trend of far-out themes for his operas. For all of the times that Adès has been compared to Britten, if that is going to hold up I think it will depend on how Adès ‘s career as an opera composer takes shape. But for now I hope everyone is as excited as I am.
